Somehow This All Pertains To Me

$25 plus $5 for postage and handling within Canada

In May 2026 I published my first Monograph about returning to art full time. Somehow This All Pertains To Me is a softcover book about endings and beginnings in art.

It includes more than 90 colour images, including drawings that go back to 1978 as well as paintings completed in March 2026. That’s nearly 50 years of making art. At the same time, having devoted myself to full-time art making over the last two years, it feels very much like I am participating as an emerging artist all over again. Is that even possible? Some galleries openly discriminate, putting out call for entries to only those that are fresh out of school or who are self-taught and have only recently put out work. Others can be patronizing when it comes to older artists. The book opens up the question of whether starting again is even possible?

Anybody who got their fine arts degree but didn’t have the means to practice during the life of their career will find this of interest, although at the end of the day, I don’t know if what I’m trying to do is even possible.

The book itself is small enough to fit in your glove compartment (about 6″ x 8″) yet big enough at 144 pages to give you a glimpse into my history and process. The story behind many of the paintings on this site are included. Printed in Canada, this monograph edition is limited to 100 copies only — so if you’d like a copy act now.

To get your copy in Canada, email me at rickjanson460@gmail.com with your name and address and e-transfer $30 CDN to the same address. That includes the cost of the book ($25) plus another $5 towards postage and handling.
